What is this portable speaker from Xiaomi?
The Mi Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a rather compact model with a rectangular shape, which has dimensions of 213 × 74 × 74 mm and a weight of 185 g. Its shape isn't particularly pretty, but the rounded edges and acoustic mesh and silicone coverings thankfully soften its style. Its robust materials allow it to withstand some shocks and falls. It is also IPX7 certified and resists rain, splashes and short immersion in water.
On the front, you will find several well-integrated buttons, to turn on the speaker, change the volume or track, or to pair the speaker with another. You can also connect headphones via the 3.5 mm jack. A microphone is also present in the speaker, and allows you to make hands-free calls. The function is practical, but the microphone is unfortunately not of great quality.
Is this JBL portable speaker worth it at this price?
Xiaomi's Mi Portable Bluetooth is a good model for this price. It’s also the right price considering its performance. If you turn the volume all the way up, the audio will inevitably lose detail and the result will not be flattering. However, at reasonable volume and in good conditions, the Xiaomi speaker offers balanced sound and does its job.
Finally, its autonomy is 13 hours, if the volume is not pushed all the way.
