With options for two controls

In the new “Dragon Ball” game, you can choose between two types of controls. Bandai Namco discussed this in the recently published Beginner's Guide.

As we know from the Summer Game Fest last month, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will be released on October 11th. The platforms supported include the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The game modes and a split-screen multiplayer have already been revealedNow we also know what the controls are like. Bandai Namco released the Beginner's Guide, in which the publisher explains the basic game mechanics.

Players can choose between two control types: default and ClassicThe former is the recommended option, the latter is based on the “Budokai Tenkaichi” games.

This is how the standard control works:

  • Protection: Hold [R1/RB] to protect attacks. It can be used with Low Guard: Down + [R1/RB] or High Guard Up + [R1/RB] be aligned.
  • Step/Short Dash: By pressing [✖/A] you can move quickly in the air or on the ground.
  • Climbing/jumping: By pressing [L1/LB] you can jump or fly in the air.
  • Dismount: You can squat or return to the ground by [L2/LT] presses.
  • Smash Attack: Can be used for close combos, hold [☐/X]to perform a smash attack.
  • Ki-Blast: Throws a Ki beam. Hold the button [△/Y] to throw a Smash Ki Blast.
  • Urgent chain: Allows long combos by pressing one to four times [☐/X] and then pressing [△/Y].
  • Ki Charge: You can charge your AI bar by [R2/LT] to perform Ki Blasts and Super Attacks.

The selected controls also affect the cutscenes with quick-time events.

Of course, you can customize each playable character individually. In addition to the outfits, various accessories, ability items and additional properties are available. The following image shows what the editor looks like:



“Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero” costs 79.99 euros and can be pre-ordered from the PS Store, among other places. As a bonus, you get the following content:
