When will the new project from the It Takes Two creators be revealed? Studio provides hint

As is well known, the “It Takes Two” creators at Hazelight Studios have been working on a new project for a while. Via X (formerly Twitter), the developers gave us a hint about a possible date on which the title could be revealed.

In April, the developers hinted at an imminent unveiling. Unfortunately, Hazelight Studios did not give a specific date for the presentation of the next title. However, this may have changed now. Via X (formerly Twitter), the indie studio gave us a concrete indication of a possible date for the upcoming unveiling.

Hazelight published a snapshot showing studio founder and game director Josef Fares with Geoff Keighley, the producer and presenter of the Summer Game Fest or The Game Awards.

Will the unveiling take place in August?

The studio captioned the photo: “Great things are going to happen this year.” A statement that seems to indicate that Hazelight is using one of the upcoming events produced by Geoff Keighley to showcase the studio's next big project.

There are two events that could take place in the next few months. Firstly, we have The Game Awards in December. Number two in the group is the Opening Night Live event, which takes place the day before Gamescom. This year on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

With Hazelight Studio celebrating its tenth anniversary this November, there is speculation that the developers may be aiming to release their new title by November, which could point to an announcement during Opening Night Live.

Quality of It Takes Two is to be surpassed once again

Hazelight Studios is still holding back on concrete details about their new project. However, the developers hinted a while ago that we might have something big to look forward to.

According to Game Director Josef Fares, the team will aim to surpass the quality of “It Takes Two”.



A very ambitious undertaking. Ultimately, the cooperative adventure developed into a Metascore of 88 one of the biggest surprise hits of 2021. In addition, “It Takes Two” was also very well received by players. This is illustrated, among other things, by the user score on Metacritic, which is 8.9 points.

“I can tell you now about our next game, it will be even better than It Takes Two. It will be so crazy […] and blow people away”, said Fares at the time.
