Update 1.12.3 is here and makes Commander Gaius and the Golden Hippo less annoying

“Elden Ring” and “Shadow of the Erdtree” have received a new update to version 1.12.3. The official changelog reveals what changes.

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have teamed up for the RPG hit “Elden Ring” including “Shadow of the Erdtree”. It brings the title up to version 1.12.3 and makes changes and improvements in various places.

Commander Gaius and the Golden Hippo will be less intrusive in the future

With the patch 1.12.3 for “Elden Ring” and “Shadow of the Erdtree”, the fight against the Golden Hippo was adjusted, among other things, so that the annoying boss is not more annoying to players than intended. This also applies to Commander Gaius.

The placement of bosses in the rematch has been changed so that they are in the same position as in the first battle and do not immediately charge at players.

The Golden Hippo received another change. It fixed a bug where the boss's unblockable bite attack hit players more easily than intended.

Several weapons were rebalanced and bugs were also addressed: For example, update 1.12.3 for “Elden Ring” and “Shadow of the Erdtree” fixes a bug that caused the “Rolling Sparks” skill to do more damage than expected.

How PS5 players can improve performance

In the changelog, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco also provide tips that can help players if they encounter limited performance. While most of the tips are aimed at the PC community, there is also a tip for PS5 players.

For example, in the PS5 version of “Elden Ring,” an unstable frame rate could possibly be improved by using the “Rebuild Database” option in the device’s safe mode.
