Ubisoft CEO Guillemot on remakes and the future of the series

In an interview, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot spoke at length about the future of the “Assassin's Creed” series. Without going into further detail, he confirmed that several remakes are indeed being worked on.

Although Guillemot did not mention any specific names, he did say that several classic “Assassin's Creed” adventures will return in a revised form.

Guillemot on the planned remakes: “First, players can look forward to some remakes that allow us to revisit and modernize some of the games we've developed in the past. There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich.”

While Guillemot did not want to reveal which “Assassin's Creed” titles would be making a comeback in the form of remakes, the rumor mill already wants to know more. On the one hand, several insiders and leakers spoke of a remake to the 2013 published “Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag”.

In addition, Insider Gaming pointed to another unspecified remake in April 2024. The community speculates that Ubisoft could also bring back the first “Assassin's Creed” title from 2007 in a revised version.

Ubisoft wants to surprise fans

Is it about upcoming series spin-offs like “Assassin's Creed Shadows” or “Assassin's Creed Witch”then according to Guillemot the developers will be concerned with surprising the players with fresh ideas.

This is intended to ensure that the “Assassin's Creed” series remains interesting in the long term.



Guillemot: “There are a lot of good things coming up, including Assassin's Creed Hexe, which we announced, which will be a very different game from Assassin's Creed Shadows. I think we're going to surprise people.”
