Ubisoft brings back classic gaming masterpiece after two decades

After more than 20 years, Ubisoft has decided to re-release the cult classic Beyond Good & Evil for the current consoles.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is now officially releasedOn Metacritic, the PS5 version has a rating of 78 percent, the user score is slightly lower at 7.1 out of 10 possible points (source: Metacritic).

The purchase price is 19.99 euros – regardless of whether you get the new edition for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One or PC.

Ubisoft brings Beyond Good & Evil to current consoles

Well? Who of you still remembers Beyond Good & Evil? The action adventure was released in November 2003 – back then for GameCube, PC, PS2 and Xbox. For several years, Ubisoft has assured fans that the sequel is in the works, even though there is still no concrete release date.

Instead, the French publisher has now decided to re-release the original in the form of a 20th Anniversary Edition for the current consoles (Source: Ubisoft). Beyond Good & Evil is released on 25 June 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. You will also be able to play the new edition via the streaming services Amazon Luna and GeForce Now.

If you have a Ubisoft+ subscription, you can save yourself the purchase. The game will be part of the subscription. Ubisoft has not yet revealed how much the game will cost for everyone else – we expect a RRP of 20 to 30 euros.

Ubisoft promises revised graphics (up to 4K and 60 FPS – probably only for current-gen consoles) and controls, various quality-of-life features, a speedrun mode and a special anniversary gallery that will house all kinds of pictures from the game's production. Nice additional feature: There will even be a cross-save function if you play the game on different platforms.
