Announced in August 2021, Frostpunk 2 is a highly anticipated game which was due to be released on PC and in PC Game Pass on July 25. Unfortunately, we discovered today that the title has been postponed.
See you in September
In a post published on Steam, 11 bit Studio indicates that the game has been pushed back to September. This postponement is due to the additional work that will be required for the various improvements and new features that will be made to the game following player feedback after the last beta.

As we analyzed your feedback and prioritized the things we wanted to add to the game, we realized that to do them justice—and to ensure the best possible experience at launch—we needed more time to complete development on Frostpunk 2. That's why we've made the difficult decision to push back the game's release to September 20, 2024.
We know this isn't the news you wanted to hear. However, we believe these additional features are something you deserve to see in the game from day one, not in a patch added after release.
11 Bit Studio claims that this decision is motivated by the desire to “create the best game possible” and that players “deserve” to see these new features available on the day of the game's release.
Many improvements and new features in preparation
Improvements to the interface and more detailed and flexible workforce management are notably expected, while new rebalanced Hubs will appear.
The studio will also offer a feature highly requested by players allowing them to get closer to their citizens:
In the beta survey, you pointed out that after changing the scale of the game, you lost attachment to individuals. Indeed, Frostpunk 2 takes place on a much larger scale, but we want to give you the opportunity to get as close to your citizens as possible, even in this new setting. That's why we've added what we call “Zoom Stories,” which are zoom-ins available to specific parts of the city that allow you to observe the daily lives of your citizens.

Frostpunk will therefore be released on September 20, 2024 on PC and directly in PC Game Pass. It will be released later on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 and will also integrate the Xbox Game Pass catalog into its console launch.
