At 60, Brad Pitt will have done it all

Joseph Kosinski, the director of the explosive Top Gun Maverickand Apple Original Films revealed the release date for their highly anticipated Formula 1 feature film on Tuesday. Brad Pitt will be able to drive F1 from June 25, 2025 in the cinema, then exclusively on Apple TV+, the American giant's streaming platform.

Production of the film began in 2023 in exclusive collaboration with F1, filming was carried out last year directly on several racing circuits during real Grand Prix races. The film crew had to shoot additional racing scenes during the 2024 F1 season.

Although the film still doesn't have an official title, it is (for now) named “Apex F1” in reference to the fictional racing team from the feature film. The cast therefore consists of Brad Pitt, in the role of a former driver returning to the racing world to help a new F1 driver, played by Damson Idris (Snowfall). Other big players like Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem will also be there.

A promising film

Apex F1 tells us about the return to the track of an F1 driver, in early retirement following a major automobile accident, he will come to the aid of Joshua Pierce, a young rookie in the racing world. The film will be broadcast on IMAX screens as was the case with Christopher Nolan's great Oppenheimer when it was released. Warner Bros is in charge of distributing the film in partnership with Apple.

Joseph Kosinski ensured that the scenes were shot using state-of-the-art cameras to capture the feeling of speed of the Formula 1 cars as best as possible. However, the actors did not actually drive F1 cars, as they are intended for professionals only. It was claimed that F2 cars, less powerful than their big brother, were specially designed and modified to fool spectators and make the performers appear to be driving real F1 cars. We imagine that we had to put our hands in our wallets to accomplish this feat. And it is the case, according to some rumors the budget of the film would have exceeded 250 million dollars.
