Throne and Liberty – At this point, no autoplay in the western version of Throne and Liberty

Amazon Games is taking advantage of gamescom to outline the changes to the western version of Throne and Liberty: autoplay would be removed and PvP better flagged so players who want to can avoid it.

Last May, Throne and Liberty was unveiled as part of a beta test in South Korea and the MMORPG of NCsoft aroused mixed reactions from players, especially Western ones.We remember that the fights were considered too slow and NCsoft has already indicated that it has reworked its copy to make them more dynamic.Among other points of contention, however, there remained the autoplay system integrated into the game, which plays in place of the player in certain phases of the game. Autoplay mechanisms are becoming the norm in Korean titles, they are nevertheless much less accepted In Occident.

No autoplay for Western tests of Throne and Liberty

As part of the gamescomthe German site Mein-MMO spoke with Merv Lee Kwai (in charge of Western version of Throne and Liberty at Amazon Games) and we note in particular from the interview that theautoplay should be disabled on western MMORPG servers.

Concretely, according to Merv Lee Kwai, the autoplay of Throne and Liberty was added by NCsoft to facilitate the grind in the MMORPG universe. The Western operator nevertheless says he is aware of the unpopularity of autoplay in the West. The option will therefore be deactivated for the first western tests of Throne and Liberty. However, Amazon Games reserves the right to reactivate it if some players claim its return under the terms of the tests (for example if the beta demonstrated that the grind is likely to put off the testers).

PvP only for certain content

We also understand that PvP will obviously get some tweaks in the Western version, so that players not wishing to battle other players can avoid it.

Throne and Liberty

The main areas of the game universe include an outpost: at regular intervals, these outposts will be the subject of conquest wars and in this case, the surrounding area switches to PvP mode (PvP clashes in the open world ).Same in the context of world bumps where the area becomes PvP while facing the boss. These events will nevertheless be announced in advance and players who do not want to participate will be able to avoid these areas.
We also know that the dungeons of Throne and Liberty are open dungeons, subject to the rules in force in the area.In the Korean version, the dungeons can therefore host PvP confrontations.Clearly, Amazon Games is working on PvE dungeons for those who resist PvP, but without guarantee that they will finally be integrated into the MMORPG universe (it would be a significant modification with regard to the structure of Throne and Liberty, perhaps too complex to implement).

Thus, “by default”, Throne and Liberty would remain a PvP MMORPG, but players preferring PvE could manage to avoid PvP confrontations if they were attentive to the environment and the planning of the outbreak of wars.

For the record, Throne and Liberty is to be beta tested in the West in the coming weeks or months. At this stage, Amazon Games does not specify its schedule. We imagine that it will depend on the scope of the adjustments planned for the Western version of the MMORPG.
