We see the blade, we no longer see it

It was through a legend accompanying a photograph of the Sith that the Sith's combat technique could be identified. We already knew that he used a short lightsaber (a “shoto”), until now hidden in his main weapon. But the official site revealed more, providing the name of its method.

The Stranger uses a lightsaber fighting style called Tràkata, which involves turning the saber on and off during combat “, is it written. Note that the legend does not present him as a Sith. Moreover, even the official description of the character leaves a relative doubt about what Qimir really is.

The Tràkata technique is more of a secret skill than a real form of combat. It consists of momentarily surprising the opponent by deactivating the blade then relaunching it to take advantage of an opening in the enemy's guard. In the extended universe, several works feature it, notably comics and novels.

We can for example mention Mara Jade Skywalker, the wife of Luke Skywalker, during saber training. Jedi Master Corran Horn used it during a fight against a Yuuzhan Vong, an alien from another galaxy. However, these characters are no longer official since the purchase of the license by Disney in 2012.

The Tràkata has nevertheless made its way into the official canon, recalls the encyclopedic site Wookiepedia. First, in the animated series The Clone Wars (episode Great comebackin season five) and now in the live-action series The Acolyte. The extended universe is a convenient reservoir from which to draw ideas.

It is not easy to detect the Tràkata in combat, because the extinguishing and relighting of the saber can be done in an instant. Fans of the saga have the impression that the Sith used this technique at the beginning of the episode, when he faced two secondary Jedi knights, one with a blue saber, the other with a yellow saber.
