What is this smartphone with the flashing lights?

The Nothing Phone (2a) has a classic design with rounded edges and thin bezels around the screen. It looks like a traditional smartphone at first glance, apart from its set of LEDs visible on the back and which makes it unique. The transparent back allows the components and lights to be seen. Despite the plastic, the finishes are quite good and the smartphone does not look cheap. With its dimensions of 161.74 × 76.32 × 8.55 mm and a weight of 190 g, it offers very good grip.

The LED system, called Glyph, is not a revolution in itself, but has the merit of being pretty and fun. The play of light creates a different choreography depending on whether the smartphone receives a notification, a call or a message, is charging or even when Google Assistant is listening. The transparent back highlights the effect, which is still basically a gimmick, but a cool one. On the front, the 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz is bright and responsive.

Is the Nothing Phone (2a) worth it at this price?

At less than €320, it's a very good deal, because the Nothing Phone (2a) is not just an atypical smartphone that flashes. The Dimensity 7 200 Pro chip provides great fluidity and great performance, including for video games. The NothingOS 2.5 home OS, based on Android 14, is just as original, with minimalist icons and a clean style. The interface responds perfectly well, and the smartphone allows extensive customization, menu and Glyph included.

In terms of photography, the photos are of quality, without matching certain competitors in the same price range. For its price, however, it remains a good cameraphone. Finally, you can count on around fifteen hours of use.
