Choose an installation location before downloading

Until now, the Microsoft Store installed all games downloaded from the store on the system drive by default.
But with the latest Microsoft Store update, things will change noticeably. Stamped 22310.1401.8.0, the latest version of the Microsoft application store will allow you to choose an installation location for the games you are about to download. And it was Daniel Paulino, software engineer at Microsoft who announced the good news on Twitter

“The new Microsoft Store update has just been released, v22310. Available to all users. Now you can select which drive to install games like Starfield, Halo and Minecraft 🎮 Worked great when I installed Sea of Stars, one of my GOTYs 🥰 Hope you like it. Send your comments! The team is listening 💪🏽 » he declared, with a short demonstration video to support it.

So, when downloading a new game, the Microsoft Store will show you a pop-up informing you of the destination location selected by default. You can then, if you wish, change disk or partition to install the largest titles.

You will then be automatically redirected to the page of Microsoft Store Settings to which a new section dedicated to the installation location of the games has been added.

It is from this menu that you can define the default installation disk, but also the directory selected for your games. Please note that you can deactivate the alert automatically displayed when downloading a game if you have, for example, an installation location that you dedicate to games.
