The editorial team is looking forward to this in… July 2024 – News

Teasers

Since no single release noticeably dominates July, there is less overlap (in other words: more variety) in eagerly awaited games from GG authors. Things are different on the cinema front.

[FILME/SERIEN] I don’t want to wait until August until all (only!) eight episodes of House of Dragons Season 2 Season 2 is starting very promisingly. And I need to know if Super Chef Carmen will be in the third season of The Bear was let out of the cold storage room again.

[SPIELE/BRETTSPIELE] Whether I continue Ultimate General: American Revolution play? I will probably write that today in the current Jörgspielt. And as an old Bladerunner fan, I will Nobody wants to die at least try it out, it looks great.

[SONSTIGES] Until mid-July, much of GamersGlobal is focused on the GamersGlobal RetroGamer barbecue on July 13th – tents, benches, dishes and so on have now been ordered for 100 people. The last registrations are until this Saturday (July 6th). possibleThe diamond meeting from the previous day has also found a home.

[FILME/SERIEN] A certain new season will not be found somewhere in the sunless fathoms of the Watchlist mountains, but will be watched directly (if the episodes do not appear weekly): Tower of God is entering its second round and I really liked the first season of this adaptation of a Korean webcomic. The genre is a slightly different fantasy: the main character Bam enters the eponymous tower because the woman who is like a big sister to him disappeared in it some time ago. Those called by the tower fight for life and death to reach its higher levels. Whoever makes it to the top is said to become godlike. What begins as a battle royal changes when the rules of an entire society in the tower are revealed and the survivors temporarily form a community of fate while they are prepared for the higher floors. I am excited to see what awaits me now, because from a look at the original I know: after the nasty ending of the first season, there seems to be a jump to other characters in a completely different place.

[SPIELE/BRETTSPIELE] The studio behind the item shop roguelite Moonlighter reports in July with Cataclysm In the strategy title, you defend yourself at night in a similar way to They Are Billions or Conan Unconquered Monster hordes and use the day to further expand your settlement. A special feature is the small-scale construction of the fortifications in Lego style. In contrast, in Magical Delicacy peaceful and homely: You play the new witch in a town and open a shop where dishes with magical properties are prepared and then delivered to the hungry townspeople. Movement through the 2D pixel city has platforming elements. The town in question is idyllically located by the sea, just right for summer!

[SONSTIGES] The GG&RG barbecue is coming up soon! It will be nice to see familiar faces again and make new acquaintances. Musically, I am particularly fond of a soundtrack: I played the beat-em-up River City Girls 2 started in co-op. I was quickly hooked on the poppy synthwave songs that, like in the predecessor, sweeten the fighting – especially the pieces with vocals. Accordingly, the soundtracks from parts 1 and 2 are regularly on rotation in my head (in the imaginary CD player, although in reality I listen to them digitally).

[FILME/SERIEN] The original Twisters I saw it in the cinema and, apart from a few nice effects, I remember it as one of the worst cinematic wastes of money. In fact, the extremely creatively named sequel Twisters but now I'm tempted – just to find out whether the sequel can even beat the narrative level. Judging by the gruesome trailer, I would tend to answer this question with a yes. So I don't know yet whether I enjoy media accidents enough to want to spend money on them (again). Duty, on the other hand, is clear Deadpool & Wolverine. Not only because I Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman I like so much. The two predecessors belong to me, after the first Batman-Film by Tim Burtonsimply one of the best comic book adaptations ever. And even after part 1 I would not have thought that Deadpool 2 could be even better, but that's exactly what happened. Even more brutal, even funnier, even more extreme action scenes. I don't know anything yet, of course, but after its predecessors, the chances are very good that Deadpool & Wolverine will be my film of the year if it even comes close to the first two parts.

[SPIELE/BRETTSPIELE] As far as the big titles are concerned, July is traditionally a slow season. But three titles still appeal to me. First of all, F1 Manager 2024whose predecessor I tested last year. It wasn't far from being a really good title, which is why I'm very excited to see whether developer Frontier can develop significantly further. The second game is the pixel survival horror Conscript. In fact, I only noticed the game when I was browsing the release list. But it appeals to me just because of its World War I setting. Above all, it would by no means be the first game where Team 17 as publisher has brought a real indie gem to life. Last but not least, there is Frostpunk 2 – if it had not recently been postponed to September.

[SONSTIGES] As I write these lines, the round of 16 has not yet taken place and it may all be over by then. But I am now reveling in the anticipation that we might actually be able to make our dream of becoming European football champions in our own country come true. Otherwise, I am looking forward to two hands-on events for two very promising titles. I will miss the GG barbecue because of the first one, but if the game (which is of course not mentioned here) is as good as I hope, that will console me for the worst of the pain.

[FILME/SERIEN] The DespicableMeseries (known in German as Despicable Me) is certainly not the pinnacle of the cinEastern animation films, but the stories about ex-villain Gru and the cute Minions have grown on me and I am looking forward to the fourth part. A slightly different Kaliber is Deadpool & Wolverine. The Anarcho-Hero Deadpool not only breaks the fourth wall with beautiful regularity, but also breaks with theen family-friendly age rating traditions, the first part was already “for adults only”. This time comes as well Hugh Jackman in his signature role as Wolverine. I can't miss that. More like a “Guilty Pleasure” is expected to be the third season ofn Barbecue Showdown be. The barbecue reality show is already firmly entered in my personal calendar. Also included: Das Sequel to the historical hit Vikingscalled Vikings Valhallais now entering its third and final season. Not quite so consistent and rand like the original, but still worth seeing.

[SPIELE/BRETTSPIELE] In the month of July I have exactly one game on my “To Do” list. One! And thas is also enough thicke from: The Legend of Heroes – Trails Through Daybreak eappears namely finally also worldwideafter it had already in 2021 was released in Japan for the PS4 (the port for the PS5 came about a year later). With Daybreak starts Nihon Falcom a new Story arc in the Trails universe and focused referring to the events in the Calvard republic. For me as Fan of course a must buy! With an estimated 90 hours of gameplay lies Trails Through Daybreak approximately the same extent as ColdSteel 3 from the previousänger series.s leaves little room for more games this month.

[SONSTIGES] Fun looks different: Rough novele or comics are not on my reading list this month, instead a lot of at Funding applicationsnBusiness plans for a new venture, a product-Pitch and an investor presentation, various Database documentation, and a few student projects are all I have left in the already quite manageable schedule. In addition,en a somewhat more extensive roadmap document for a local developer and various Platform guidelines and first preparations for the Gamescom in August.

[FILME/SERIEN] The third season of The Bear will also be available on the German Disney Plus – even if the first reviews are in the, well, regions of cautious approval. From now on, the joy also applies more to Murders in the Building. Last but not least, of course, also firmly planned: A trip to the cinema for Deadpool & Wolverine.

[SPIELE/BRETTSPIELE] The old real-time strategy veteran in me is of course especially looking forward to StormgateEven though I only like the design a little bit, I hope for a game that will satisfy my regular Kane's Revenge-Interrupts reinstallation routines.

[SONSTIGES] Please think of any text about the European Championship results that seems current at the time of publication. Can anyone score more own goals? More cards per game? There's still room for improvement!

[TAYLOR SWIFT] The Eras tour in Germany will be (at least) three and a half hours worth of memories. I say this as someone who has not been to more than half a dozen live concerts.
