The new episode of the current Star Wars series boasts its first small cameo appearance. In episode 4 of The Acolyte, we see a familiar face for the first time. This is a small sensation, especially since the series is set a full 100 years before The Phantom Menace – so most of the characters from the films aren't even alive yet.

But of course this does not apply to some alien species. For example, Master Yoda was already a veteran during the time of the High Republic. The cameo, however, is of another Jedi master who is by no means unpopular.

Warning of mild spoilers!

In this report, we will of course give an early indication of who the familiar face is. If you want to be surprised, you should not read on. The general plot of the episode will not be discussed in detail.

What about the attack on the Wookies?

After episode 3 exclusively covered the backstory of the twins Mae and Osha (both Amandla Sternberg), episode 4 returns to the present. To be more precise, we find ourselves in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant at the beginning. Here, several high-ranking Jedi are discussing what Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) has found out and that Mae is deliberately murdering the Jedi who were stationed on her home planet years ago.

Among the Jedi in question is a later Jedi Master of the Council. This is Ki-Adi-Mundi. The Cerean is recognizable by his pointed head, as well as his ponytail and beard. Mundi also says a few words and points out Mae's skill in battle.

Ki-Adi-Mundi first appeared in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. He then appeared in the other prequel episodes and also in the animated series The Clone Wars. Mundi became more well-known both through his dramatic death in Episode 3 and through the words What about the droids attack on the Wookies?.

The sentence became a small meme among Star Wars fans in the 2010sIt almost seems intentional that Mundi celebrates his return in the Acolyte episode, in which there is also an attack on at least one Wookie.

Is this really Ki-Adi-Mundi?

There are also some arguments against Ki-Adi-Mundi. At least according to the pre-Disney canon, Cereans don't live as long as Mundi ultimately must. In the earlier canon, Mundi's birthday was given as 92 BBY (before the Battle of Yavin). That means he wouldn't even have been born at the time of The Acolyte. The series is set in 132 BBY.

Apparently, Disney has now officially refuted this information. Because the Jedi in episode 4 is indisputably Ki-Adi-Mundi. The character is listed in the credits as Master Ki-Adi-MundiThis time the Jedi is played by Derek Arnold. In George Lucas' films, Silas Carson was behind the huge forehead.
