Vita Nova is Terra Nil's first major update, expanding on its deeply satisfying nature restoration gameplay with five challenging new levels, nine new buildings, an updated world map, and a radical overhaul of the wildlife system and of flora.

New levels include Polluted Bay, a dead landscape bisected by a heavily polluted river, and Scorched Caldera, a vast volcanic crater that you must terraform into a freshwater lake filled with life. These maps, along with all the new maps in the Vita Nova update, will test your scavenging skills in interesting and unusual ways.

As the campaign progresses, Vita Nova's enhanced world map – which is now fully 3D and can be rotated freely – will give you a closer, more personalized look at your efforts to bring life back to this dead world.

And thanks to the revised and corrected wildlife system, these transformed landscapes will be more alive than ever. Animals emerge more naturally as you play, and have deeper needs to satisfy to stay happy and abundant. This not only adds a new strategic dimension to the game, but gives you more animals to admire – including a whole new species, the jaguar – as nature restores itself.

Terra Nil is a chill, meditative take on the city-builder genre in which you use advanced ecological technology to transform a desolate, barren land into a thriving, vibrant ecosystem. Purify the soil, clean the oceans, plant trees, reintroduce the flora and fauna, then recycle everything and move on, leaving no trace of your passage.

“Terra Nil” is a strategy and ecological simulation game developed by Free Lives and published by Devolver Digital. Released last year, the game offers a unique experience where the player must restore a devastated environment and transform it into a thriving ecosystem.

Unlike many strategy games that focus on building and exploiting resources, “Terra Nil” reverses the process with a focus on environmental restoration. Players start with barren terrain and use various technologies to purify the soil, create water sources, and reintroduce vegetation and wildlife.

Game mechanics include:

  1. Soil Purification : Use of machines to clean contaminated soil.
  2. Hydration : Creation of rivers and lakes to rehydrate the landscape.
  3. Vegetation : Plants and trees to sow to recreate forests and meadows.
  4. Wildlife : Reintroduction of animals to complete the ecosystem.

“Terra Nil” stands out with its detailed isometric graphics and calming aesthetic. The game's visual design is both beautiful and functional, allowing players to clearly see the impact of their actions on the environment. Vibrant colors and fluid animations enhance the feeling of transformation and rebirth of nature.

The ultimate goal of “Terra Nil” is to transform a devastated landscape into an autonomous and self-sufficient ecosystem. Each level presents unique challenges, such as harder-to-restore terrain or limited resources, forcing players to think strategically about how to use their tools. The game also encourages players to minimize their environmental footprint by recycling machines and cleaning used areas before moving on to the next phase.
