Team Fortress 2: Valve bans aimbots and is merciless

We don't hear much about Team Fortress 2. Sure, the title is almost 17 years old, but it's still popular. To ensure that players continue to enjoy their matches, Valve is now bringing down the ban hammer and crushing every account, no matter how small, that uses an aimbot.

Tracking the aimbots

For some time now, players have been upset about the many aimbots in Team Fortress 2. Now Valve seems to be finally taking action. Quietly and without a single official word from Valve, more and more accounts of players who use an aimbot are disappearing.

“The strongest evidence we have of a major ban wave is the Steam charts, but the maintenance period may have simply taken them offline temporarily,” says Discord user Megascatterbomb.

Meanwhile, players are noticing an improvement and are enjoying pleasantly normal matches. Even newly created bot accounts are quickly taken out of circulation. It seems that Valve itself is responsible for the bans and not an anti-cheat system.

In some cases, messages are said to be written directly to the hosts of the bot accounts. They allegedly say the following: “Our team has determined that your accounts are causing significant disruption in Team Fortress 2. Accounts dedicated to disrupting TF2 have been disabled, and accounts used for other purposes have been suspended or banned.”

Currently, the number of players is rising again and stands at a healthy 145,000 concurrent active users. When was the last time you played Team Fortress 2?
