Star Wars Jedi Survivor: Release for additional platforms

Last year, Electronic Arts confirmed that the science fiction adventure “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” would be coming to the old PS4 and Xbox One consoles. A current age rating suggests that further details on the last-gen version could soon follow.

In February 2023, Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment released “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” for the PC as well as the current consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

After rumors about a port to the last-gen consoles emerged in the following months, confirmed EA announced in the summer of 2023 that “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor” will indeed be released for the PS4 and Xbox One. The announcement also stated that the port to the old consoles will be created by Respawn Entertainment, just like the other versions.

EA did not give a specific release date in this context and merely pointed out that the “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor” versions for the PS4 and Xbox One were still in an early stage of development at the time.

Age rating could indicate upcoming information

It is also still unclear what adjustments and compromises “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor” will have to make on the now aging hardware of the old console. Information on this could follow shortly.

This at least allows a current age rating to “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor” for the old consoles in Brazil.

In the past, ratings from South America have always been a reliable indicator of upcoming announcements and revelations. It is therefore conceivable that Electronic Arts will release further details on the PS4 and Xbox One ports of “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor” in the coming weeks.

A release date is also possible.

Last-gen versions make economic sense

Electronic Arts is not the only leading publisher that continues to support the old consoles. For example, Activision recently announcedthat “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” will also be released for the PS4 and Xbox One. A strategic decision that definitely makes sense from an economic point of view.

As figures published by Sony on the occasion of its latest financial results indicate, about half of active users on the PlayStation Network are still on the PS4. In addition, active PS4 users on the PSN brought in to 1.4 billion gameplay hours.

For comparison: On the PS5, this figure was 2.4 billion hours. Figures that make it clear that it is still worthwhile for publishers and developers to consider the old consoles.
