Many fans have been waiting for this news for a long time: The successful Netflix series “One Piece” will soon continue with season 2.
Last year, Netflix landed with the live-action series “One Piece” a huge success. The series was not only extremely well received by critics and fans, as was the case with IMDb rating of 8.3/10, but has also topped the streaming service's global charts for a long time. That's why the company quickly gave the green light to a second season, and now there's some really good news about it!

With a fresh video, Netflix has today officially confirmed the start of production of Season 2. In it, we see how the five main actors Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Gibson (Lysop) and Taz Skylar (Sanji) begin their journey to South Africa and at the end are back together on board the Flying Lamb.

But that's not all the news of the recent past, because Netflix recently revealed eleven new actors who are officially joining the “One Piece” cast. David Dastmalchian (“The Suicide Squad”) as Mr. 3, Jazzara Jaslyn (“Warrior”) as Miss Valentine, Camrus Johnson (“Batwoman”) as Mr. 5 and Daniel Lasker (“Raised by Wolves”) as Mr. 9 were confirmed as Baroque agents. Rob Colletti will also play the villain Wapol.
Of course, Luffy & Co. not only have to face all kinds of strong opponents, but also make some new friends along the way. These include Werner Coetser (“Diepe Waters”) and Brendan Murray (“Devil's Peak”), who bring the two giants Woogey and Boogey to life. Clive Russell (“Sherlock Holmes”) plays the old lighthouse keeper Krokus.

They are joined by Callum Kerr (“Monarch”) as Captain Smoker, Julia Rehwald (“Fear Street” trilogy) as Lieutenant Tashigi and Ty Keogh (“Black Sails”) as Wapol's garrison chief Dalton. The journey in the second season of “One Piece” seems to take our heroes to Little Garden and the snowy kingdom of Drum, among other places.
This means that a number of important characters have now been confirmed for the hotly anticipated sequel to the hit series. However, Netflix is still keeping fans guessing when it comes to the casting of some fan favorites. Among other things, the actors playing Princess Vivi, Tony Tony Chopper and Luffy's big brother Ace have yet to be revealed. However, this is likely to change in the coming months.
When does One Piece season 2 start on Netflix?
Since production of the new “One Piece” episodes only recently began in South Africa, the waiting fans will have to be patient for some time. However, filming this time is not expected to take as long as it did for season 1. Production had to be halted due to the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic and the writers' strike in Hollywood take a break for several months.
As a rule, we can expect a release around 12 to 18 months after filming begins. Therefore, it is conceivable that the Netflix launch of the second season of the pirate adventure could take place between summer 2025 and winter 2026.
