An Amazon “Tom Clancy” series
Jack Ryan officially retired after the broadcast of the sixth and final episode of the fourth and final season of the eponymous series. Launched in August 2018, this Amazon Original ended in July 2023 after five years of good and loyal service rendered to Prime Video. The series follows the adventures of a former Marine and now CIA agent analyst named Jack Ryan who must by force of circumstances leave the security of his office position in order to dismantle a terrorist cell. Created by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, Jack Ryan is based on the works of fiction written by Tom Clancy and stars John Krasinski (13 Hours, Promised Land) in the lead role.

The actor who played an alternate version of Doctor Reed Richard aka Mr Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness directed by Sam Raimi was devastated when the Jack Ryan series was being discontinued. In a recent interview, John Krasinski said:
I don’t think I’ll get another chance to play a character like this. He was my favorite character since I was little, both in films and books. Saying “goodbye” to this opportunity is therefore somewhat bittersweet. -John Krasinski
During the four seasons of the Prime Video series, Jack Ryan is not a monolith. On the contrary, this character, strongly inspired by the stories of the novelist Tom Clancy, evolves throughout the episodes and ends up becoming deputy director of the CIA (acting) with the mission of investigating the corruption that rages at the heart of the agency and of the United States administration.
For me, it’s been really exciting because the character evolves. So I think in the first season they called him Boy Scout for a reason. He saw the world in black and white. True and false. And Greer shows him that between good and evil there is a gray area in which most of the world lives. -John Krasinski
