It's dangerous to go alone

Revealed during the Nintendo Direct held on June 18, a new opus of the legendary The Legend of Zelda series – Echoes of Wisdom – is preparing to join the Nintendo Switch catalog on September 26. This new episode is all the more important because it will finally give players something they have been asking for for ages: Princess Zelda as the main character (you will note that we deliberately exclude the episodes on Philips CD-i).

Yet, the chosen hero of the goddesses could well not only be visible through cutscenes, but also be playable ! Indeed, everything suggests that the first moments of the trailer are composed of gameplay sequences rather than cutscenes. Therefore, and if this information is true, it would be surprising if the developers developed a new set of combat moves for Link, only to then eclipse it.

Two adventures for the price of one?

Theories are flying around the web, but everything suggests that the Hylian hero will be playable, at times, in the background of the adventure that Princess Zelda will experience, a true star of the software. Some theories explain that Link may be able to serve as a window into the nature of the mysterious antagonistic force represented by the rifts that have swallowed him and so many other pieces of Hyrule. Perhaps he can explore said rifts and help those trapped there just like him.

Thus, the adventure would take place on two very distinct levels, allowing players to switch between the two protagonists throughout the story. A way for Nintendo to continue to use Link without eclipsing Zelda, the game's true main character. Such an alternation would thus make it possible to justify a reunification of the latter during the last act of the adventure and its final confrontation. While waiting for more information on this title, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be available from September 26, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
