No need to introduce Dragon Ball, the work of the (late) mangaka Akira Toriyama rocked the youth of many people. Even today, the Dragon Ball franchise continues to live on through the ages and media, whether through its anime with the upcoming arrival of Dragon Ball Daima in 2024 or through its video games, including the next installment Dragon Ball Sparking Zero which is highly anticipated. If the protagonist Son Goku has left his mark on readers in many ways, this is also the case for his enemies including Freezer the Galactic Tyrant and Cell the ultimate fighter. Akira Toriyama sees further

After Son Goku's victory over the Saiyans (Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta), the Z warriors go to Namek in search of the Dragon Balls in order to resurrect Piccolo and the Almighty. It is at this moment that our heroes cross paths with Frieza, whose goal is to wipe out a planet of all life in order to resell them. Here, Toriyama refers to Japanese real estate agents who, during the economic crisis of 1990, took advantage of the situation to sell properties at insane prices, which would therefore explain the business of the tyrannical Freezer.

Space and time

Following their triumph against Frieza, the protagonists then defeated the greatest threat in the galaxy. Suggesting that, finally, Son Goku and his friends have succeeded in conquering space. The continuation of their adventures leads them to confront Cell, a hybrid creature created by Dr. Gero in order to create the ultimate fighter from cells taken during Son Goku's fights. After conquering space by freeing the galaxy from its greatest enemy, they had to conquer time. Symbolically, Cell represents the future as he has embarked on a journey through time to reach his perfect form. After Cell's defeat, Goku and his friends have symbolically conquered space, but also time.two major challenges of our contemporary societies.
