The Untouchables are aptly named: they are invulnerable to your attacks, even by surprise, and cause insanity if they catch you. The first advice given to us to survive against these adversaries is to make ourselves very small and cross the abyssal woods from the tall grass.

Untouchables aren't that untouchable, in that they are vulnerable to perfect parries. When they come to catch you, you will just have to parry their attack, with the help of any shield, to make them stagger. So, during this small window of vulnerability, the untouchables become… touchable! They don't have a lot of health, so you can take them out very quickly.

This method of exploring the Abyss is important to understand, because there is an untouchable to absolutely catch, the one located to the west of the “Wild Path” grace site. By defeating this fearsome opponent, you will be able to recover a very valuable talisman to compose a perfumer build or other of the Exalted Flame, namely theExaltation of the old. The latter increases attack power in the event of insanity caused nearby, which is very useful when you want to specialize in spells or scents of the Exalted Flames.

What are the notable items to collect in the Abyss of Shadow of the Erdtree?

Although the area seems completely empty and meaningless, it actually hides certain nuggets which may be useful to you for certain atypical builds. We have already told you about the “Exaltation of the Ancient” talisman in the section just before, so we are skipping the explanations for this item in order to focus on the other items which, strangely, are only weapons.

First, you will be able to collect the Exalted Flame Perfume Bottles within the Church of the Abyss.

Then, you may come across an invader, the Frenzied; by eliminating him you will be able to recover his Frenzied Hand, a weapon which accumulates insanity in targets, just like the Flasks of the Exalted Flame. The latter usually roams at the entrance to the Abyss, just after the Catacombs of Black Light.

Finally, in the Presbytery of Midra, you can find the Torch of Nanaya in the library, also a weapon that accumulates dementia on targets.

This zone primarily focuses on accumulating Insanity, so if you're interested in an Exalted Flame build, this region is for you!

Where is the Presbytery of Midra, the Abyss boss dungeon?

Now, let's focus on the location of the dungeon in this region: the Presbytery of Midra. The latter is neither to the east nor to the south of the region, no. Going in these directions, you will only find rats, followers of Miquella or the Church of the Abyss.

So if your goal is to beat Midra, you'll have to head northwest! By following the trails in the woods, making sure to keep your compass pointing northwest, you will be able to see Midra's dwelling appear.

When entering the presbytery, you will only be able to visit an empty hall. The only door is closed and no access is available from the outside; Midra, the smart guy, placed an illusory wall in his hall. You will then just need to hit the painting in the hall to begin your exploration of this small dungeon.

As you continue your ascension within this dwelling, you will then be able to meet Midra, the lord of the Exalted Flame of the Realm of Shadows.
