Hyperspace

While Starfield was criticized upon its release – notably for being too empty and unstimulating -, Bethesda is counting on its upcoming DLC - Starfield: Shattered Space – but also on the creativity of its modder community. Thus, some have already gotten to work and their creations are already fascinating players! One mod in particular – called Seamless Grav Jump – allows, as its name suggests, to replace loading times during space travel with jumps into hyperspace!

While for some it may be just a trivial graphic addition, it is clear that the latter helps to give credibility to the universe of Starfield which suffered from loading, often taking the player out of their immersion. Thus, Seamless Grav Jump allows a complete dive into the experience of moving in space and opens the way to a shovelful of new mods thus streamlining the gameplay and making it more attractive to new potential players.

Mods, yes, but paid

But despite this kind of addition, not everything is rosy regarding mods in Starfield. Indeed, the game's Creation Kit (allowing you to create said mods), unveiled during the recent Xbox Games Showcase, has been available since June 9. But some of these mods have to be purchased with real money.. Information that quickly frustrated players, who were eager to modify their game without spending a single cent, as they had already done on the developer's previous titles.

So, the day after the said update, Starfield experienced a wave of review bombing on Steam, obviously lowering the game's overall rating on the platform. The game already feels incomplete and now they want me to pay more for stuff that should have been in the game at launch” declared one Internet user, alongside thousands of others begging Bethesda to back down. The latter has not since returned to the matter and prefers preparing for the imminent release of the DLC Shattered Spaceplanned for this year.
