It was in a post on Reddit that a user named @EmbarrassedBudget859 explains that he has just made a truly incredible discovery in his favorite game, State of Decay 2. In fact, after the death of his father, 3 years ago, the player contacted the developer of the title – Undead Labs -, asking for a tribute to his father. And if he thought the title team had simply included his name in a list of random survivors, that's not the case.

In fact, Undead Labs has, in homage to the player's father, modeled a character named Bruce Allen Bucombe, matching the description of the deceased exactly, even embodying his character described by his son as “old and tired”. And that's how, without really expecting it, EmbarrassedBuget came face to face with the exact copy of his late father without really expecting it. He then rushed to share the news on the title's dedicated forum, warmly thanking the studio for its gesture. “This will always be my community forever… These developers need more recognition” he explains, moved.

Immortal

Touched by the attention, the entire State of Decay community offered his support and a shower of kindness towards the players, in addition to congratulating the studio. EmbarrassedBudget continues his thanks in the comments, explaining that “It's because of people like you that my father is immortal. We may grow old and forget this game (I highly doubt it), but no matter what, he will always be a part of it. So thank you. And thank you to Undead Labs for literally being the best indie team with the best games… I don't know what else to say, but I love you all.”.

The event quickly made the rounds on the web, being shared in particular by the account X (formerly Twitter) of the game, tagging Geoffrey Card, game designer on the title and probably the originator of the tribute. State of Decay 3 is still awaited by fans of the second episode, and everything suggests that it will appear in 2025.
