Summer Game Fest 2024 was marked by a multitude of exciting announcements and captivating revelations for video game fans around the world. Among the highlights of this event, the presentation of Astro Bot, the latest in its eponymous franchise, particularly attracted attention at Sony. This game was noted for its unique blend of action and platforming, through colorful settings and full of references to the PlayStation. The development team at Asobi recently called Astro Bot a “very, very big game” during the State of Play — the franchise's largest to date, which seems to be confirmed by the game's file size as well. We can say that she was right, because a recent observation shared on Twitter, by user Genki_JPN, reveals that Astro Bot nwill require approximately 66GB of space of free storage, from what we can gather from the Japanese copy of the title. This is a huge increase over previous titles in the series: Astrobot Rescue Mission for the PS VR took up about 8 GB, while Astro's Playroom on PS5 only required 11 GB. If nothing else, it shows that this new opus has ambition, and that it will need a lot of space to store it. For comparison, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is about 60 GB, and Cyberpunk 2077 is about 70 GB. We are still a long way from the hundred gigabytes planned for Red Dead Redemption II.

“ It's really about taking it up a notch — up several notches — and tell the big Astro story. We call it Astro Bot because we see this as a new beginning. It's a really, really big game. I think for us, it's the biggest game we've ever made,” the developers explained at Summer Game Fest. From what we know, Astro Bot is expected to feature over 80 captivating levels, each offering unique challenges.

Players will face over 70 new enemy types, adding great variety and new strategies to each encounter. With over 300 robots to savethe game promises to be an adventure rich in content and surprises. In addition to these main elements, many optional challenges will be available for those looking to test their skills and extend their gaming experience.
