Revival of Mario and Luigi: A Brotherly Adventure on Nintendo Switch After 9 Years

On the islands, but not on vacation!

While we thought the license had almost definitively plunged into a sort of brain death following the closure of the AlphaDream studio, Nintendo's famous RPG returns not with a remake, but indeed a new episode! It was Shinya Takahashi, the general director of Nintendo, who came to introduce the brand new part of the saga after 9 years of absence. Mario & Luigi: The fraternal epic will put the bonds that unite the two brothers to the test. Found far from home on mysterious islands, the brothers have no other solution than to visit different ends of land to progress. As Nintendo points out, the understanding between the heroes will have to be stronger than ever if they want to escape unscathed.

From what we can see in the trailer released, the brothers have a multitude of duo actions such as being able to bounce on each other to perform combos, spinning together to hover above molten lava, or performing devastating finish moves using a shell red. Because yes, it is good to remember that Mario & Luigi is an RPG offering turn-based combat. The trailer showed a few of them, enough to see that bosses are present and that there are a lot of enemies to face. An emergency parry key is noticeable on the HUD.

Unity is strength

Mario game requires, the platform phases are also present, like what we see in these sequences where Mario and Luigi jump from flower to flower, wall jump, and activate mechanisms moving platforms under a timing which seems tight. Phases with specific gameplay promise a lot of variety. Finally, in this funny epic, Mario and Luigi will not be the only known faces in the Nintendo universe. Peach, Bowser and other mascots can be found during the video. In terms of graphics, pretty cel shading characters and settings are displayed on the screen. This type of AD suits the colorful world of Mario perfectly, and once again, the animations look particularly polished. Mario & Luigi: The Brotherhood Epic will arrive on Nintendo Switch on November 7, 2024.
