PS5 Pro launch planned? List of exhibitors contains a surprise

The Tokyo Game Show returns this year with a surprise. Sony Interactive Entertainment is there as a “general exhibitor”. Does the company have the PS5 Pro in its luggage?

This year, game fans had to do without E3 again, but were well served with the events surrounding the Summer Game Fest. Other trade fairs, on the other hand, have survived the COVID-19 pandemic and are taking place again as in-person events. These include Gamescom in August and the Tokyo Game Show in September.

Extensive information on the latter trade fair is now available. This applies not least to the exhibitors, who are reporting a significant return.

PlayStation has been back for years

Last but not least, Sony Interactive Entertainment is among the exhibitors confirmed for the Tokyo Game Show. It is the first time since 2019 that the PS5 division will appear at the TGS as a “general exhibitor”.

The return is particularly significant as it is the first time since the launch of the PS5 that PlayStation has fully participated in the event. Last year, Sony Interactive Entertainment was also present, but only in the “Indie Game Area”.

What does the return of Sony Interactive Entertainment as an exhibitor in the “General Exhibition Area” mean? The most plausible explanation is that the company wants to show games like “LEGO Horizon”, “Death Stranding 2”, “Physint”, “Until Dawn Remaster” or “Fairgame$”.

However, there has long been Rumors about a PS5 ProIt wouldn't be the first time that new hardware was seen at the TGS. In September 2012, for example, a slimmer model of the PS3 was announced at the Japanese trade fair.
