When is the PS6 coming out?

In this context, Game Rant reports on a patent from hardware developer Mark Cerny. The patent was officially unveiled on June 27, 2024 and describes a “timing test mode” to test backward compatibility. The use of “skew” is explicitly mentioned here, i.e. the variation or distortion of processor timing.
In this context, Game Rant brings up the PS3's CELL processor. The website assumes that this method could be a solution for Sony regarding the backwards compatibility of PS3 titles. A few things remain unclear.

For example, we don't know which system such technology is being planned for. In German-speaking countries, a PS5 Pro or even a PS6 have been mentioned at times. What exactly the company's next step would be if the tests were successful is a completely different question.
