Each Trainer’s GO Festival 2024 experience will be unique, shaped by their own interests and goals. For example, Trainers looking to catch as many Shiny Pokémon as possible will have a different goal than those hoping to improve their performance in the GO Battle League.

With so many activities to look forward to, we’ve put together some tips to help you prepare for the event so you can have the best possible experience and have fun, no matter what your goals are. From making room in your Pokémon storage for all the new friends you’ll catch to finding in-person events near you to meet new people, here are some things you can do to improve your experience during the event.

Many articles will be very useful for the Festival Pokémon GO 2024: World Cup, so we advise you to stock up. Many activities will be available during the event, so prepare yourself by stocking up on items, which will allow you to have peace of mind and have fun. Here are some tips to best prepare your Item Bag (in-game and in real life) before the event.

  • Expand your Item Bag: If your Item Bag is already full, expand it so you don't have to get rid of items during the event.
  • Expand your Pokémon storage space: There's nothing worse than trying to catch a Pokémon in the wild only to find that your storage is full. Having to rush to transfer Pokémon to the professor before the wild Pokémon runs away isn't the most fun way to enjoy the event. To save time and stress, transfer Pokémon or expand your Pokémon storage before the event begins.
  • Stock up on Poké Balls: the primary objective of any event Pokémon GO is to catch Pokémon, and to do that, you need Poké Balls. While you'll likely be spinning PokéStops and Gym Photo Discs during the event, stocking up on Poké Balls before the event will give you a head start.
  • Get Potions and Reminders: If you're planning on participating in Raids (and you probably don't want to miss out on Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma!), you'll need Potions and Revives to keep your Pokémon healthy and ready to battle.
  • Stock up on Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs: during the Festival Pokémon GO2024: World, Star Pieces will earn you 2x Stardust and Lucky Eggs will double the amount of XP you receive while they are active, so you better have some on hand!
  • Don't forget food, drinks and sunscreen: While Revives and Potions are vital for your Pokémon, it's also important that you take care of yourself during the event. Make sure to eat, stay hydrated, and protect your skin from the sun. The Festival Pokémon GO is meant to make you have fun, so don't play on an empty stomach and don't risk getting sunburned. Stay hydrated, pack snacks, and wear sunscreen!

You don't need a ticket to have fun during the Festival Pokémon GO 2024: Worlds, but if you’re on the fence about buying one, it’s best to make up your mind before the event begins. A ticket to the Worlds event costs $14.99 USD (or the equivalent in your local currency) and can be purchased from the in-game Store. To help you make your decision, we’ve broken down what you’ll get if you buy a ticket.

Trainers who have purchased a ticket will have access to a Special Research that will allow them to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Marshadow. They will also be able to access a Special Research centered on Necrozma on Sunday.

During Saturday habitat rotation hours, Trainers with a ticket can work together to complete Global Challenges and earn special bonuses that will remain active until the end of the hour. Additionally, certain Pokémon will be attracted to Incense during these habitat rotation hours. These include Unown A, Unown D, Unown G, Unown H, Unown I, Unown N, Unown T, Unown Y, and Corsola in the Bright Day habitat, Maracachi in the Dawn Meadow habitat, Vostourno in the Deep Night habitat, and Rockruff in the Creeping Dusk habitat.

Trainers with a ticket will also receive exclusive bonuses, including increased chances to encounter Shiny Pokémon, up to six Special Trades per day, up to nine Raid Passes per day by spinning Gym Photo Discs, special 7 km Eggs, and 2x the damage bonus when participating in Raids with Friends. Depending on your goals for GO Fest 2024, these bonuses could give you a significant advantage, especially for Trainers hoping to catch a plethora of Shiny Pokémon and participate in numerous Raids.

It's more fun to play Pokémon GO with friends, plus it has benefits for the GO Festival 2024. This is the first year that Trainers can use Team Play during the event, which will be helpful in defeating Necrozma faster in Raids: Team Play can boost Charged Attacks, allowing your party to deal damage faster.

Additionally, Trainers who purchase a ticket to the Festival Pokémon GO 2024: Worlds can perform up to six Special Trades per day during the event, so having friends nearby to trade with (and deciding in advance which Pokémon you'd like to trade) is a good way to prepare. If you're looking to make new friends, you can do some research and find the Festival event or encounter Pokémon GO 2024: World Cup closest to you.

While it's impossible to determine which Research tasks you'll need to complete during GO Fest 2024, past events have tended to feature common themes. Even if you don't know what's coming, you can still prepare. First, practice your Nice, Great, and Excellent throws. Research tasks often require you to show off your Poké Ball throwing skills, and this is generally a very useful and important skill in Pokémon GO. Second, make sure you use the keyword functionality. Research tasks often require you to recharge, evolve, or purify Pokémon. By assigning a keyword to the Pokémon in question before the event, you can save time.

With over 70 species of Pokémon appearing in the wild and in Raids during the Festival Pokémon GO 2024: World, Trainers wanting to form teams for the GO Combat League may have a hard time figuring out which Pokémon to catch. Some Pokémon that appear during habitat rotation hours on Saturday and in the wild on Sunday tend to be popular in battles against other Trainers, so keep your eyes peeled and catch as many as you can to earn Candy and Stardust to power them up and teach them optimal Charged Moves.

Pidgey will appear during the Aurora Meadow habitat rotation hour, and while it may not be very competitive in the GO Battle League itself, its Evolution, Pidgey, evolves into Pidgey, which is a great choice for the Great League and Ultra League. Gulls is another Pokémon that will appear, and its Evolution, Pelipper, is a solid choice for the Great League. Finally, Galarian Squirtle will also make an appearance. It is a great partner for the Great League and Ultra League, and will not need to evolve to be ready for battle.

Two Pokémon that will appear during the Bright Day habitat rotation hour have final Evolutions that shine in the GO Battle League. Specifically, Charmander's final Evolution, Charizard, is a solid choice for the Great League and Ultra League, and Lil' Dragonite's final Evolution, Dragonite, is extremely powerful in the Ultra League and Master League.

Eevee will appear during the Creeping Dusk habitat rotation hour, and while it's still worth catching for its plethora of Evolutions (all of which require Candy to activate), its Evolutions Umbreon and Sylveon are particularly competitive in the Great League and Ultra League. Brossard is another Pokémon that will be sneaking around in the twilight, and its Evolution Desséliande is a strong contender in the Great League and Ultra League.

This habitat rotation hour features two Pokémon that don’t need to evolve to compete in the Great League: Glissor and Strassie. Additionally, Mudkip will be appearing in this habitat, and its final Evolution, Swampert, is a force of nature in the Great League and Ultra League. All three Pokémon are worth catching during this event.
