Oops – strategy game not appearing in Game Pass after all

In April, “SteamWorld Heist 2” was announced for several platforms. However, the role-playing game will no longer be available in Game Pass.

Last April, “SteamWorld Heist 2” was released. Another title in the “SteamWorld” series announcedThe game from Thunderful Development and Thunderful Publishing is a turn-based strategy game about Captain Leeway and his colorful crew.

“SteamWorld Heist 2” will be released on August 8, 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Contrary to what was previously announced, the game will not be available in Xbox Game Pass upon release.

PR team accidentally added Game Pass logo

When “SteamWorld Heist 2” was officially announced, the Xbox Game Pass logo was visible alongside the various platforms. The game subscription was also listed in the tweets and trailers for the game. However, all references to the Game Pass have since been deleted.

When asked by our colleagues at Xbox Era, the PR team responsible for “SteamWorld Heist 2” stated that it was never actually planned to release the game in Microsoft's subscription. “We accidentally inserted a Game Pass logo into our reveal trailer,” said FortySeven PR. “The game will NOT be available in Game Pass.”



However, other games in the series are available by subscription

Anyone who has subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass can still look forward to games from the “SteamWorld” series. “SteamWorld Dig” and its successor “SteamWorld Dig 2” have been available since June 26th. Part of the offer and can be played on console and via the cloud.

In “SteamWorld Heist 2” players can experience extensive world exploration with real-time naval battles with Captain Leeway and his crew from August. The strategy game offers an extensive job system as well as more than 150 weapons, everyday items and ship equipment. As with its predecessor from 2016, the upcoming sequel also relies on the tactical positioning of the characters and the ricocheting of shots. There are also naval battles and an explorable overworld.
