Nintendo passed on a chance to add humor to the new Zelda

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will put us in Zelda's costume. Therefore, fans believe that Nintendo should have instead called it The Legend of Link, as is the tradition of the saga.

Since its beginnings, The Legend of Zelda saga has always raised questions about its name: why put Princess Zelda forward, when we never play her? If Nintendo were logical, they would have called it The Legend of Link (when I was young, I myself thought the hero was called Zelda). The fact is that Zelda is a much more important, developed and talkative character than Link in-universe.

On the occasion of its Nintendo Direct broadcast on June 18, Nintendo formalized a new opus, called The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. It is based on a historical particularity: we will not play Link, as usual, but Zelda. A hell of a paradigm shift, applauded by the fans. Some even allow themselves to joke about the name of the game, believing that it should have been called The Legend of Link: Echoes of Wisdom.

Nintendo misses the opportunity to make a good joke

Victoria Tranwho works on Among Usalso made his comment along these lines, with a slip of the tongue: “ I scream and roll on the ground! Thanks Nintendaddy, I will play The Legend of Link/Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, I am pro-table and hope Zelda uses me as a table. » She refers to the fact that the heroine will be equipped with a magic staff allowing her to make objects appear to progress in the environments (like a table, therefore).

Nintendo misses the opportunity to capitalize on a gag that many people have thought of. But the company undoubtedly believes that humor cannot come at the expense of marketing. The saga is called “The Legend of Zelda”, period. In any case, the multinational succeeded in its bet with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and these first positive and humorous feedbacks prove that no one seems embarrassed by the idea of playing Zelda rather than Link. A few months ago, Nintendo had already done the trick by offering an adventure specific to Peach, the princess of the Mario universe.
