Available since June 21, Elen Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion continues to seduce players who were eagerly awaiting the DLC. This additional content is not without its flaws, however, and after a first update making the game a little less difficult last week, a new patch is now available.
A new update is coming
From Software has indeed revealed the details of patch 1.12.3. Available now, it mainly brings balancing adjustments to certain weapons and skills.

Performance fixes are also being offered, the details of which can be found below. Many bugs are also fixed, as indicated in the patch notes at this address.
The update is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

PvP-exclusive balance adjustments

- Decreased the damage and damage animation of the “Quick Strike” skill’s shearing void effect.
General balance adjustments
- Increased the intelligence scale of the Carian Sorcery Sword and slightly decreased the base damage.
- Extended the range of throwing attacks for the following weapons:
- Smithscript Dagger
- Smithscript Circus
- Changed the boss positions during the new Golden Hippo and Commander Gaius boss fight to be in the same position as the first fight.
Possible fixes related to unstable performance
- For the PS5 version of the game, unstable performance can be improved by using the “Rebuild Database” option from the device's Safe Mode.
- In some PC versions, the Ray Tracing option may be enabled unintentionally and cause unstable performance. Please check the Ray Tracing setting in “System” > “Graphics Settings” > “Raytracing Quality” from the title screen or game menu.
- In the PC version, the message “Inappropriate activity detected” may appear without cheating.
- To resolve this issue, verify the integrity of the game files before launching the game again.
- In the PC version, unstable framerate can be caused by third-party applications that control mouse behavior. Disabling these third-party applications may improve performance.
