Miyazaki could imagine filming under one condition

FromSoftware's “Elden Ring” as a film or series? Sure, says boss Hidetaka Miyazaki. But only if he doesn't have too much to do with it.

FromSoftware's popular action role-playing game “Elden Ring” is currently on everyone's lips again, especially because of the recently released expansion “Shadow of the Erdtree”. The Japanese company recently announced a first sales figure for the DLC report: The new adventures in the Shadowlands were able to sell around five million copies within just three days.

But the main game “Elden Ring” also became a big hit when it was released in 2022. So it's no wonder that the developers at FromSoftware are being asked about a film adaptation of the story of the Tainted. Now Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio's president, has commented on further adaptations.

Miyazaki would not be averse to filming

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Miyazaki said that there was interest in an adaptation of “Elden Ring.” The president is not opposed to it either. However, he and his team should not be too heavily involved.

“I see no reason to turn down another interpretation of Elden Ring, a film for example,” said Miyazaki. “But I don't think I or FromSoftware have the knowledge or ability to produce something in another medium. So this would require a very strong partner.”

He added that FromSoftware would need to build a lot of trust and agreement with potential partners about what they actually want to achieve, but there would be “active interest.”

The studio's games are known for their difficulty level

The Soulslike titles from the Japanese developers at FromSoftware are known not only for their impressive game worlds and mechanics, but also for their high level of difficulty. The recently released expansion “Shadow of the Erdtree” is no exception.

The tough fights caused frustration among some users, which was reflected in the rating of the game reflected. The developers reacted and simplified the game with Update 1.12.2 and a balance adjustment. However, publisher Bandai Namco reminded players that they should also increase their Scadu Tree Blessing if they are having problems in “Shadow of the Erdtree.”
