The Microsoft Edge is making a jump to version 123 (123.0.2420.10) in the beta channel and thus takes over some functions that were previously available in the Dev channel. The version will then appear in the stable channel around February 21, 2024.

Microsoft links to the dev versions 123.0.2380.1, 123.0.2400.1 and 123.0.2420.6 for the new versions.

For companies and administrators, the Edge team puts a little more effort into describing these new features and group policies.

  • Administrators can customize their organization's branding assets on Edge for Business through the Microsoft Edge management service. This branding can help users signed in with an Entra ID (formerly known as Azure Active Directory) more easily distinguish between multiple profiles and browser windows.
  • The Microsoft Edge Management Service provides administrators with an improved way to configure, review, and customize how Microsoft Edge for Business displays the following organization branding elements: organization name, accent color, organization logo, and Microsoft Edge for Business tray icon overlay.
  • The Microsoft Edge Management Service provides administrators the ability to configure automatic profile switching settings in the Microsoft Edge browser.
  • Support for viewing MIP-protected PDF files is extended to various sovereignties (including GCCH).
  • New guidelines:
  • ExtensionInstallTypeBlocklist – Blocklist for extension installation types
  • ExtensionManifestV2Availability – Control availability of Manifest v2 extensions
  • DefaultWindowManagementSetting – Default window management permission
  • WindowManagementAllowedForUrls – Allows window management permission on specific websites
  • WindowManagementBlockedForUrls – Blocks window management permission on the specified websites
  • RSAKeyUsageForLocalAnchorsEnabled – Check RSA key usage for server certificates issued by local trust anchors
  • ScreenCaptureWithoutGestureAllowedForOrigins – Allows screen captures without prior user gestures

There are no outdated guidelines this time.
