League of Legends, but as “Street Fighter”? Fans have been waiting for this news

In recent years, Riot Games has been one of the most influential names in the industry. Some may think of League of Legends, its huge success or Spinoff projects like Arcane. We recently talked about the second season of the Netflix series Others may be thinking of the successful online shooter Valorant.

At the same time, the studio has been repeatedly criticized in recent years. A few years ago, for example, there was a lawsuit for systematic sexism and abuse. Last October, the studio was also a wave of layoffs attracted negative attention.

A “Street Fighter” in the League of Legends universe?

The news surrounding the studio also includes an upcoming 2D fighting game. The so-called Project L was announced almost five years ago and the name has since been changed. The project has been known as 2XKO for some time now and is currently causing a stir.

Finally, the fan community can look forward to the start of the alpha playtests. These are planned for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. And fans don't have to wait too long for the launch, although there is a small catch.

When do the playtests start?

The playtests are scheduled to take place from August 8th to 19th. However, this is not an open alpha, but a closed process. Accordingly, you have to register online to take part. This is, at least according to the team's announcement, the first of many playtests.
