Many voters have submitted a proxy for the 2024 legislative elections. But, in the event that there is no longer a need for a proxy to go to the polling station, a procedure to cancel exists.
Have you given someone a proxy for the legislative elections, but will you ultimately be available to vote? Please note that it is entirely possible to cancel your process and then present yourself at the polling station. The procedure is simple, but you will have to go to the police in person to finalize it.

How to cancel a voting proxy
Cancellation of your power of attorney is done on the government website maprocuration.gouv.fr. You will need to identify yourself by entering your FranceConnect username and password — this is the same path as when making your proxy. Once in your space, you will have a “Cancel my power of attorney” link at the top right.
You will need to enter your voting municipality and then confirm that you are canceling your proxy. Please note: this procedure has the effect of canceling all current powers of attorney at once. If you entrust your vote in the first round to a first proxy, and that of the second round to another, both proxies will be lost.
Once the online process is completed, you will need to go to a police station or gendarmerie brigade to validate your request. Note that you can also go to the site directly, without going through the maprocuration.gouv.fr platform. However, you will have to fill out a form on site.
In theory, you could not terminate your proxy: you would just have to go directly to the polling station, before your proxy, to “fry” his or her prerogative. However, this lacks civility (you could warn that). Additionally, there is always the uncertainty that the person will get to the polling station before you (unless you are there when it opens).

The reasons why a proxy is canceled can vary from voter to voter.
- the agent you have chosen may no longer be available on the day;
- you are now able to vote yourself;
- you have doubts about the honesty of your proxy in respecting your voting instructions – particularly if you use a platform like Plan Procu, the reliability of which has been called into question.
