Elden Ring has never run perfectly on PC, but since the release of the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree” problems have been cropping up. Some of these should have been fixed with the latest patch, but that doesn't mean that everything is running smoothly.
On X, FromSoftware Play Support has released a solution for stuttering and frame drops.
Mouse software is to blame
In detail: After many players on Steam complained about the performance of Elden Ring, FromSoftware provided a solution via X-post that most people probably hadn't considered.

The software in your mouse is said to be to blame for the questionable performance. FromSoftware does not mention which software exactly is affected.
So we assume they are generally talking about any software that affects your mouse.
So if you're having problems with Elden Ring, try turning off software like Razer Synapse or Logitech G-Hub before starting the game.
In addition to this fix, there are many others you can try. However, none of them have been officially communicated by FromSoftware.
