After a long period of silence, there is finally a sign of life again regarding the planned film adaptation of “Metal Gear Solid”. Fans are unlikely to react too enthusiastically.
It has long been no secret that “Metal Gear Solid” will finally come to the big screen. A film has been in preparation for some timebut this ambitious project never seemed to really make any progress. The last somewhat concrete information dates from 2022 and is therefore anything but up-to-date. But now there is finally a small sign of life again – albeit not a really positive one.

Two years ago, actor Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars Episode 7”) that work on the script for the film of “Metal Gear Solid” had finally been completed. The script, written by author Derek Connolly (“Detective Pikachu”), was apparently finished, so it shouldn't be long before filming begins – or so most fans thought.
However, the situation seems to be quite different: Producer Avi Arad recently came forward to talk about the film project. To Brian Crecente in his newsletter Game Arad explained that work on the script was by no means finished.
“We're still working on the script, but I can't talk about it yet. I think everyone will be as excited as they will be surprised. I think it's going to be great to get Metal Gear Solid right. I think it's a lot more meditative than some of the other adaptations. My personal wish is that it wins awards,” he said.
According to Avi Arad, the script for the film adaptation of “Metal Gear Solid” is by no means finished, so the project is still in pre-production. So fans will have to wait a while longer before they see Snake on the big screen.

There is currently no specific release date for the film of “Metal Gear Solid”. Since filming has not even started yet, the premiere will probably be a few years away. The adaptation will certainly not be in cinemas before 2026 – probably even later.

The director is Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who has already made a name for himself with films such as “Kings of Summer” and “Kong: Skull Island”. The only actor confirmed so far is the aforementioned Oscar Isaacwho will take on the role of Solid Snake. Game Director Hideo Kojima is working on the screenplay for the film adaptation.
