German Dev Days 2024: The conference program (update)

A “colorful bouquet of flowers” promises organizer Stefan Marcinek for the German Dev Days 2024 in the first week of August.

Update as of June 28, 2024: Around “Money, drugs, hookers and lies” is the subject of – among other things – the talk by industry veteran Teut Weidemann, who will speak about 'the bad side of the games industry' on the first day of the German Dev Days 2024 (August 7).

Weidemann’s lecture is one of many exciting programme items during the two-day German Dev Days 2024 in Frankfurt. From 2 p.m., director Uwe Boll will discuss with organizer Stefan Marcinek, before a 'Piranha Bytes / Gothic Panel' at 4 p.m.

Other panels, workshops and lectures will focus on dark patterns, successful pitching, diversity, game publishing, marketing, founding and financing. The GDD Indie Awards ceremony is also planned for the evening of August 7th, followed by an evening event.

Tickets are still available for 149 € net – Students, trainees, teaching staff, teachers, journalists and influencers are allowed into the Saalbau Gallus free of charge upon presentation of proof. There is a surcharge of €10 net for workshops.


Update as of June 4, 2024: By one week – until 14 June 2024 – the Submission deadline for the GDD Indie Award 2024. The organizers hope that this will motivate more newcomers and indie studios to apply for the prize money of €10,000.


Update from May 3, 2024: A traditional part of the German Dev Days is the GDD Indie Award, which this year also comes with prize money of €10,000. The award ceremony will take place on August 7th at 6 p.m. at the GDD venue (Saalbau Gallus in Frankfurt).

From now until June 7, 2024, Submissions for the GDD Indie Award 2024 are now open – in the following categories:

  • Best beaver poop (Worst game) – endowed with 100 € for a good cause
  • Best Prototype – 1,000€
  • Best looks (Graphics, animation etc.) – 1,500 €
  • Best sound (Music, sound, voice output) – 1,500 €
  • Best story (Story) – 1,500 €
  • Best game mechanics (Game Design) – 1,500 €
  • Best game – €3,000

Last year, Matthias Linda worked with Chained Echoes won three categories, including the main prize for 'Best Game'.


Update as of April 29, 2024: From now on Registrations for the German-speaking developer conference German Dev Days 2024 (GDD). Registration deadline is July 22, 2024. Special feature: Students, trainees, journalists, bloggers, YouTubers, teaching staff and teachers can participate free of charge – business visitors pay €149 net. A fee of €10 net is charged for the workshops, which can be booked separately.

Update as of April 23, 2024: Similar to previous GDD editions, this year young developers also have the chance to get a free exhibitor stand and talk to publishers, investors and media representatives.

In total, twelve exhibitor tables are available for the Germany Dev Days 2024 – each including a free roll-up banner with a print of your choice. The studios only have to bring the appropriate hardware (PC, laptop, console, etc.) themselves.

Publisher-independent teams or solo developers who have been on the market for no longer than five years can apply until May 27, 2024 apply.


Message from April 16, 2024: Since 2016, the German Dev Daysin short: GDD, always takes place in May – in 2023 in June. The sixth edition of the German-language specialist conference is planned for August 7 and 8, 2024. Nothing has changed about the venue: the centrally located Saalbau Gallus in Frankfurt am Main.

The format is aimed at game developers as well as those who want to set up a studio, are considering entering the industry or are in training. Anyone who wants to pass on their knowledge can submit suggestions for lectures, panels and workshops submitThe range of topics extends from game, graphic and audio design and programming to marketing, PR, sales and financing.

Students, trainees, teaching staff and lecturers can also take part in the GDD free of charge this year – business visitors pay €149 for the ticket and €10 per workshop (plus VAT in each case). Registration will be possible shortly.

Stefan Marcinek, founder of the Wiesbaden publisher Assemble Entertainment and organizer of the German Dev Days: “I am very pleased that we can continue the GDD this year, albeit a little later in the year.
