The Witcher developers bow to Elden Ring

If you like role-playing and action games and the difficulty doesn't scare you, you probably couldn't miss the release of the Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree. Extremely anticipated by fans of the FromSoftware game, the latter was already anticipated by many players as one of the best games of the year even before its release, despite its simple status as additional content. Since its release, the rumors have only been confirmed and the rave reviews have started to pour in, to the point of garnering the excellent rating of 95/100 on Metacritic. Thanks to this feat, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has officially become the best DLC of all time in the role-playing category, surpassing a certain The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine (which had a very solid 92/100 on Metacritic). To congratulate FromSoftware on this new record, the developers from CD Projekt wanted to give them a little gift:

For the past 8 years, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine has held the honor of being the highest-rated role-playing game expansion of all time, but it's up to Elden Ring to wear that crown now. Congratulations to the entire FromSoftware team for their titanic work!

In addition to this honorable message which changes the power games exercised by the characters of House of the Dragondevelopers from CD Projekt also shared an illustration created for the occasion by one of their artists. We see Geralt of Rivia armed with his iconic sword and the sacred Spear of Mohgwyn, a weapon that he obviously collected as a reward for his victory against Mohg, the blood lord of Elden Ring. For those less familiar with the world of FromSoftware's game, this boss is precisely the one that must be defeated before being able to tackle the game's DLC. Furthermore, following this tweet, CD Projekt also shared several screenshots of the team's developers as they took down Mohg themselvesproving that many people have played Elden Ring and its DLC.

The Elden Ring team responds with honor

This is not the first time that developers congratulate each other at the time of the release of certain major titles in the industry, but it is true that such a passing of the crown is not seen every day. At a time when additional content is not very well received by players, seeing that certain teams still insist on offering real expansions full of content hits the mark. Touched by CD Projekt's message and illustration regarding them, FromSoftware responded:

It's a true honor to be placed alongside Blood and Wine, one of the best expansions of all time. We welcome your words with great humility. THANKS.

One thing is certain, the release of Shadow of the Erdtree may well be remembered, probably as much as Blood and Wine before it. We obviously wish a long reign to this new overlord, even if we would not refuse to see some competitors for this throne.
