For PS5? Further releases after studio takeover by Daybreak

Daybreak Game Company has snapped up the developer Singularity 6. As part of the deal, an imminent release of the MMO “Palia” on other systems was announced.

The video game industry has seen another takeover that could ultimately lead to a game becoming more widely available. MMO specialist Daybreak Game Company is now owned by studio Singularity 6, which most recently released “Palia”.

The free-to-play cozy sim MMO was released for the Switch in December 2023. The final PC launch took place in March 2024 after a six-month beta phase. “Palia” offers cross-play and cross-progression.

Palia to appear on other platforms

When Daybreak announced its acquisition of Singularity 6, it was stated that “the player base is expected to continue to grow as the game continues progress toward completion and 1.0 release on all major platforms.”

“Palia” is said to already have a total of four million players, of which over 100,000 people are active every day. On Steam, peaks of 10,000 to 13,000 players are usually reached.

“S6 is an excellent addition to our development studios, which are known for their success in developing large online games and content,” said Daybreak CEO Ji Ham“Their first title, Palia, is a fantastic addition to our online portfolio.”

Anthony Leung, co-founder and CEO of Singularity 6, is hopeful that the best way to ensure further success is to join forces with Daybreak, who have a proven track record of building gaming communities.

“We look forward to benefiting from their experience, expertise and investment in Singularity 6 and Palia,” the CEO concluded.

Daybreak Game Company, formerly known as Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), is an American video game developer and publisher. The company was founded in 1997 and became known through MMOs such as “EverQuest”, “Planetside 2” and “DC Universe Online”. In 2015, the company was sold by Sony and renamed.
