After a preliminary announcement indicating the arrival of a highly requested feature on PS5, it is today officially available with us.
One year after its implementation on PS5 and two years after its full integration on Xbox Series, Discord is finally developing on Sony's console. Here's what you need to know and the procedure to follow to finally benefit from the application's voice chat on it.

Discord voice chat is finally operational on PS5
Until now, the only way to get Discord voice chat to work on PS5 was through the mobile app or a PC. As of today with us, this additional step is now history, voice chat is finally fully operational on the Sony machine. To take advantage of this, however, you must update your console to the latest version of the software system. PlayStation also indicates that it may be necessary to restart it again, even after the update.
Either way, it will now be much easier to join a Discord voice chat via a server or a private conversation directly from the PS5. Sony was well aware of the importance of such a feature and therefore worked hard to deploy everything in our region, only a few days after its announcement.
How to join Discord on PlayStation 5
Once your PS5 is updated, getting Discord working on it is relatively simple. Here are the different steps to follow in this direction:
- Press the PS button, then go to the Game Base as for your usual game groups
- Go to the new tab with the Discord icon
- Choose the server where the voice chat you want to join is located
- Click on the desired voice channel (if there are several on the server)
- Click on join to create a new gaming group
We find more or less the same steps when it comes to joining a message group on Discord. In addition to joining Discord on PS5, it is also possible to receive calls directly to join your friends immediately in a private conversation. For full Discord integration, no longer missing is the possibility of streaming your game to your friends on the Sony console, as is already the case on Xbox Series. But the most important thing is now finally done, and the rest will certainly await a new update in the more or less near future.
