Exploring The Acolyte’s Break from Star Wars Traditions with a New Lightsaber in the Saga

“The Acolyte” introduces a new dimension to the Star Wars universe, shaking up established conventions. Qimir a character full of surprises

Qimir's lightsaber is notable for its ability to split into two blades. In one particularly intense moment, the Sith Lord splits his lightsaber at the hilt, revealing a dagger. While the concept of a double-bladed lightsaber is not new to the Star Wars universe, this model has some unique features. For example, Cal Kestis' lightsaber in the “Star Wars Jedi” games functions in a similar way, but Qimir's seems designed to deceive his opponents more effectively… and it works!

“The Acolyte” also introduces a revolutionary new armor made from cortose, a very rare metal. This unique armor possesses the ability to briefly short-circuit lightsaber blades upon impact. By temporarily neutralizing Jedi attacks, Cortosis armor provides a significant strategic advantage to wearers, bolstering their defense against the most formidable weapons in the Star Wars universe. This technological innovation adds an additional layer of complexity to battles, making the confrontations even more unpredictable and intense.

Lightsabers never seen before

The operation of Qimir's lightsaber relies on the use of two kyber crystals. Each crystal powers a separate blade, and the second blade is hidden in the hilt of the main saber. This clever design allows Qimir to quickly switch from a saber to a double blade by unscrewing part of the hilt. This mechanism is reminiscent of Vernestra Rwoh's flexible saber, capable of changing from a rigid blade to a whip-like shape.. To alternate between these two aspects, she had to turn the handle. Most viewers are unaware that a lightsaber is not simply a light sword. There are actually many types of these weapons and “The Acolyte” should show you some new ones!
