Exciting Update for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Less than a week after its launch, Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has already established itself as a cult work. Unfortunately, its high difficulty quickly generated debate within the community, even causing review bombing on various sites and more particularly on the Steam platform. However, don't worry: the developers have deployed patch 1.12.2, which may be an answer to all this. This update makes the expansion slightly more accessible.

A welcome patch for Shadow of the Erdtree

The patch concerns two new mechanics of Shadow of the Erdtree: on the one hand, the “Ossult Tree Building” which increases the player's damage and defense. To call on it, simply collect “Splits of the Occult Tree” hidden all over the Kingdom of Shadows. On the other hand, there is the “Blessing of the Revered Spiritual Ashes” which increases the power of the summoned spirits and the spectral steed. For the latter, it is “Venerated Spiritual Ashes” that must be collected. Both blessings can be upgraded at a Site of Grace up to level 20 and thus greatly facilitate your experience.

Now, 1.12.2 slightly improves the “Own Tree Creation”. Players will now benefit from an increase in its effects in the first 10 levels, with a more gradual build-up in the second half. Furthermore, the value of the bonuses granted by the last level has been slightly increased.

Technical changes and accessibility

Besides gameplay adjustments, the patch also brings technical changes. PC gamers should check raytracing quality settings as a bug automatically enables this option, potentially causing performance drops. FromSoftware recommends disabling it if the framerate becomes unstable. Additionally, further balance adjustments and bug fixes are planned in future updates. These improvements should help ease frustrations with performance issues and make the adventure smoother for players!
