A second season awaited

In 2023, the live action of One Piece landed on Netflix, and this, despite a huge fear from fans. And for good reason, the last examples of adaptations in live-action shots of manga or anime were often far from unanimous. Evoking the disasters that were Death Note And Dragonball Evolution should be enough to legitimize this fear of the community. However, to everyone's surprise, this first season of One piece was rather well received by the publicproof of which are the honorable ratings of 8.3/10 on IMDb and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. And for Netflix, the producer of the project, it is a total success: the series has accumulated over 500 million hours watchedas we mentioned to you in this article.

Faced with this success, the streaming platform immediately packed up for a second season.. After concluding the Arlong Park arc in the last few episodes, the producers will now have to bring to life the arcs of Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and possibly the Kingdom of Drum. Important story arcs for the Straw Hats, in particular, because they meet a good number of people there. We obviously think of Chopper, but also giants Dorry and Brogy as well as Crocus the Grumpy.

…which reveals its casting

And to interpret these new characters, Netflix has just made official the casting of three new actors. Among them, we find a fairly neophyte actor in the presence of Werner Coetser, who will bring life to Dorry. To stand up to him, it will be Brendan Murray who will take the role of Brogy. In his career, Murray has played several secondary or tertiary roles in major series such as The Boys, Designated Survivor or even Suits. And as for Crocus, he will take on the features of Clive Russell, a British actor who notably played the role of Brynden Tully in Game of Thrones. All join the cast of Baroque Works that Netflix recently revealed.

The latest news is that filming for this second season was scheduled to begin this year and finish in early 2025. We can therefore hope for a release for summer 2025 (at least), but nothing confirms this at the moment. Let's just hope that enough time is taken to continue to deliver a quality series that respects the original medium. In the meantime, if you want to (re)discover the first season of One Piece in live action, All episodes are available to stream on Netflix.
