For most people, the pen and paper role-playing game The Black Eye synonymous with the continent of Aventuria, where many of his stories are set. But there are also other, often much more magical continents in the world called Dere. One of them is Myranor, which lies far to the west of Aventuria.

The continent was officially populated with content for quite some time, parallel to Aventuria, but nothing has happened for six years now. That is about to change! on 1 July 2024 Uhrwerk Verlag is launching a crowdfunding campaign to bring Myranor back. This time, however, the team is relying on the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5e.

New and old books

For the new crowdfunding project, Uhrwerk Verlag is using the same two open gaming licenses While Ulisses' open ELF license allows the use of the continent, Wizards of the Coast's OGL allows the use of D&D rules.

But Uhrwerk Verlag had already been involved in Myranor long before that. Uhrwerk held the license from 2009 to 2017, before withdrawing it in 2017. Now they are back in charge and are also using the opportunity to bring back out-of-print books. These are the planned publications:

  • Under the star pillar: This new edition of the setting book without rules describes the north of Myranor and lays the foundation for adventures in this world.
  • Beyond the Cloud Forest: The second new edition is also a regional description dedicated to the Myranian south.
  • Rules for Myranor: In this volume, the rules of D&D 5e are adapted to the world.
  • Monster Manual for Myranor: The Monster Manual contains a number of Myran creatures that come with 5e rules, so you can have the monsters appear in other D&D games if you want.
  • Legate of Evil: The solo adventure about one of the most powerful antagonists in DSA history is being re-released.
  • Corruptor of bodies: There will also be a new solo adventure with Pardona, which continues the story in depth.

Of course, the success of the crowdfunding could lead to even more bonus goals being unlocked. For example, more monsters for the Monster Manual and more magical items for the rulebook are conceivable.

The team is aiming for a crowdfunding sum of 15,000 euros. If they raise 35,000 euros, all bonus goals will be unlocked. If you want to be informed about the start of the campaigns, you can register here.

What is Myranor?

The Myranor continent is a high fantasy alternative for anyone who finds Aventuria too staid. There are significantly more different peoples in Myranor, most of them anthropomorphic creatures. But the cultural concepts here are also more offbeat. Instead of a fairytale Middle Ages, you can expect a kind of high-tech antiquity.

The world of Myranor is much more reminiscent of Roman or Greek models, but is combined with powerful magical devices such as flying airships. Myranor is also much larger than Aventuria and deliberately leaves areas completely blank so that you can think of something yourself.

Since the new Myranor is being created under the ELF license, the new stories are not part of the world's official canon – but this also allows for more freedom.
