In particular, the PSN requirement on the PC is one of the points of criticism that is repeatedly raised by the PC gaming community. In an interview with Eurogamer, lead character designer Jon Weisnewski took up this topic again and defended the PSN requirement on the PC. According to Kreines, this helps the developers to bring players together on the PC and the PS5.

“So that we can bring PC players and PlayStation 5 players together, so that crossplay and cross-progression work, this layer is there. Only on a technical level,” said Weisnewski. “So the goal is to bring players together to have fun and play together. That's part of the experience.”

Comparison with Overwatch does not cause Firewalk any headaches

In various previews, “Concord” was repeatedly compared to Blizzard's successful hero shooter “Overwatch”. The comparisons were mainly made because both shooters let two teams of five players compete against each other in mission-based rounds.

Even though “Overwatch” is of course a big name in the genre given its commercial success, the comparisons do not bother the developers at Firewalk Studios. Instead, the studio is convinced that “Concord” contains exactly the ideas it needs to hold its own on the market.

“It doesn't bother me at all. Overwatch is a great game and the team has done incredible things for the genre,” Weisnewski commented on the comparisons with Blizzard's cult shooter.

“At the same time, I firmly believe that our game has a unique identity and plays like nothing else on the market.”
