The film Blade never ends with the troubles! While Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) had already left the position of director in September 2022, it is now the turn of his replacement, Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country, Top Boy) to set off on new adventures. It's the media The Wrap who tells us the news exclusively, in an article published on June 12, 2024.

According to the media, the separation took place “amicably”, however, no information regarding the causes of this departure has been communicated. The name of the next director remains a mystery but screenwriter Eric Pearson (Black Widow) is still there, and the project still counts as main actors Ahershala Ali (The World After Us), Delroy Lindo (Malcom X) and Mia Goth (X the Movie).

A probable delay for the release date of Blade?

A question therefore arises: do we have to worry about the release date of Blade, still planned for November 5, 2025? According to The Wrap, before thinking about arriving in theaters, Marvel first focuses on what the film has to offer. This choice is explained by the change in strategy on the part of the entertainment giant, which now wishes to favor quality over quantity.

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently explained that he had worked with Marvel to reduce output and focus more on quality. Between 2021 and 2023, Marvel released 10 films including 4 failures. For the moment, the release date of Blade has not been postponed but with the departure of the director of the project and Iger's comments, we can expect possible changes.

What is Blade?

Blade is originally a comic book from 1973 adapted into a trilogy consisting of Blade (1998) Blade 2 (2002) Blade Trinity (2004), In these works, we follow Eric Brooks, a half-man, half-vampire hybrid who, with the help of his friend Abraham Whistler, fights vampires and especially their leader Deacon Frost. In project since 2019, Blade (2025) will be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and addresses the story of Deacon Frost before he seeks to become a Vampire God.
