At the end of May, Sony showed a first trailer for “Concord”. However, it was not well received and was met with a lot of criticism. There is now an official statement on the matter.
After the presentation of “Concord” at the recent State of Play show, many players were not impressed. The trailer shown was not convincing enough. More optimistic forecast reports are available.

During the underlying preview event, Kim Kreines, Director of IP, commented on the previous disappointment of the players and put things into perspective.
So the Trailer was only a tiny part of what the game is all about. After all, Firewalk has spent years working on the implementation of “Concorde” The finished shooter contains much more than what could be shown in the few moments of a trailer.
“Yes, this trailer,” the director emphasized. “This moment is such a small snippet of everything we've been working on for years. We're excited about the game and the IP and getting the game into people's hands.”
Players should fall in love with the character depth
Kreines stated that Firewalk is excited to launch the new IP and give buyers the opportunity to hold the game in their hands. In the interview, the developer particularly bet on players falling in love with the depth of the characters of “Concord”.

“I'm really looking forward to people delving into the Galactic Guide, if they choose to, and having our vignettes come out weekly. They're going to fall in love with the depth of the characters. None of that is conveyed with a tiny piece of it,” added Kreines.
Firewalk, the development studio behind “Concord”, belongs to Sony and was founded by former Bungie and Activision employees before the takeover in 2018. “Concord” is the studio’s first game.
Beta starts soon and here's how to take part
There are now deeper information to the beta phases. The first test phase will take place from July 12th to 14th, 2024. Finally, “Concord” is scheduled to be released on August 23rd, 2024. Pre-orders have been open since June 6th, 2023. Those who pre-order will receive early access to the game's beta tests.
What is Concord about?
“Concord” is a PvP shooter. There are six different game modes to choose from, in which players compete in groups of five against five. Initially, 16 characters, called freegunners, will be available for battle – each with unique skills that can influence the course of the game. More freegunners will be added to the game over time.
Weekly cutscenes are intended to further advance the game's story. The standard game will cost 39.99 euros at release. There will be no pay-to-win mechanics. However, anyone who wants to can buy cosmetic content for real money.
