Trying out Space Marine 2 before the official launch is now not possible.

The planned release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is just around the corner, on September 9, 2024 you will be able to slip into your space armor again. But now the promised open beta has been cancelled – a bad sign?
We summarize the reasons announced by the developer studio and also explain what you will get as an apology if you have already signed up for the beta.
Why Space Marine 2 is cancelling the beta
Actually, before the release, anyone interested should have the opportunity to try out the co-op shooter. Namely as part of the aforementioned open beta, which didn't have a start date yet – but you could already sign up.
Now it is clear that this open test phase will definitely not take place. The developers announced this in a Steam Post known. All available forces are needed, to ensure that the game appears in a technically clean state:

Over the last few weeks, we've seen incredible excitement for the game, both online and at shows during the North American tour. Our teams at Focus and Saber have been truly overwhelmed by your passion, and we've loved the fan art, reactions, and memes you've shared so far.
Space Marine 2 is almost complete. We are now fully focused on optimizing, polishing and fixing any remaining issues ahead of the September 9th release. This means we will not be running a public online beta as this would distract the development teams from preparing for the full release.
Consolation: As an apology for this disappointing news, everyone who signed up before June 28th will receive this skin for the Bolt Pistol.
This weapon skin will automatically be added to your inventory upon release if you signed up for the cancelled beta.
Second consolation: The post also contains exciting news, such as the fact that the game will launch with dedicated servers. There are also six minutes of commented gameplay, including from the campaign mode. You can watch the video here:

In the comments on the Steam forum, some users expressed understanding for the cancellation, while others were skeptical. “No beta, no pre-order,” wrote Steam user Clock. A beta cancellation at such short notice naturally sets off a few alarm bells about the technical state of the shooter.
After all, Space Marine 2 has already been postponed for several months, and the technical condition was by far the biggest problem during our own hands-on impressions in 2023.
Whether Space Marine 2 can meet its release date this time and whether it will have a smooth launch remains to be seen.
